At iStorm we ambition to bring these people together to create real happiness at work.Organisation and department description Our client is an internet infrastructure essential company based in the Brussels area.Job description As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at the organization, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of the company and will be a crucial part of our DevOps team, playing a significant role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our infrastructure and ensuring that our systems align with our strategic goals.
In this position, you will drive the transition to our new Standard Operating Environment, ensuring a seamless modernization of some services while maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of our infrastructure. In addition, you will provide technical leadership and direction, mentor junior team members, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver scalable and robust solutions that support our organisation’s objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in developing our IT strategy, and design infrastructure solutions that align with our strategic goals.
- Drive the implementation and maintenance of our infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, security, and performance.
- Guide the transition to our new Standard Operating Environment, coordinating with various teams to ensure compliance, efficiency and effectiveness of our services.
- Maintain an understanding of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and leverage this knowledge to drive continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, providing technical guidance and direction and ensuring that our infrastructure solutions meet their needs.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation system as part of the broader team.
Profile Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role, with demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure Architecture.
- Proven track record contributing to unified IT management strategies and service assurance.
- Solid understanding of IT compliance and security operations in the Domain Name System and TLD Registry environment context.
Technical Proficiencies:
- In-depth knowledge of networking and security protocols, with hands-on experience (ideally in Palo Alto, Cloudflare and Service Mesh technologies).
- Familiarity with the Domain Name System (DNS) and its secure management (DNSSEC).
- Proven abilities in task automation and system administration using scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Experience in system administration within a Linux environment, including familiarity with Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux derivatives such as Alma Linux or Rocky Linux.
- Mastery in configuration management and automation using tools like Ansible and Rundeck.
- Proficiency in monitoring and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana and log management with Graylog.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure and configuration management using Foreman, containerization technologies, and virtualization solutions.
Cloud & IT Infrastructure:
- Deep understanding of the building blocks of IT infrastructure, such as caching solutions, load balancing, and backups.
- Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodologies, ideally with the IT service management and collaboration tools from Atlassian.
- Experience with public cloud services and migration strategies, including cloud-based solutions like Cloudflare.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effectively working with various teams and stakeholders.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills, with a focus on developing the capabilities of junior team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
- Fluent in English.
