Neo Christopher Chung, is offering a postdoctoral research position in the Institute of Informatics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw.Terms of employment
Selected candidate will be employed as full-time researcher (pol. adiunkt). The duration of employment is one year, with possible extension. The starting date is on 1 June 2025 – to be agreed with the selected candidate. The offered salary is around 8 850 PLN per month pre-tax. The position comes with no teaching obligations and with a travel budget. Selected candidate will work on developing self-supervised learning methods and training a deep learning model for medical images.Description of the project
The XAICancer project aims to create high performance interpretable deep learning models for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. To do so, we will develop novel algorithms (Vision Transformers, Self-supervised Learning, Explainable AI, and others) and train machine learning models for cancer images (CT and PET/CT scans). The post-doc position involves developing cutting edge ML methods for medical imaging data, collaborating with interdisciplinary and international teams, and disseminating research products through publications, conferences, and open source software packagesRequirements
We expect that candidate at the moment of employment hold a PhD degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics or related computational areas of study – the degree can be obtained no earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in project – and have an excellent background in one or more of the following fields: programming (Python and others), data analysis, data science, classification and prediction, statistical modeling, mathematical analysis of an algorithm.Applications

 presents an overview of the background and scientific achievements of the candidate;
 lists all the candidate’s research works (including not yet published manuscripts);
 lists source code repositories (if needed, share privately);
 gives a list of two experienced researchers that may serve as references for the candidate.In addition, there should be a signed cover letter addressed to the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw together with the personal data clause (attached).

The applications will be evaluated by a selection committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw. The committee may invite candidate to a meeting, which will be conducted remotely. The results of the competition will be sent to candidates electronically on 30 April 2025 at the latest.
