The PhD project centers on an intriguing question in cancer biology: Why do cancer cells re-express meiotic proteins, and how does this affect their response to chemotherapy?
Our lab has discovered that common chemotherapy treatments can induce meiotic proteins in cancer cells-proteins typically restricted to gamete formation. This phenomenon may contribute to genomic instability and resistance to therapy. In this project, you’ll investigate:Mechanisms driving reactivation of meiotic genes in cancerThe impact of these proteins on cell physiology and treatment outcomesPotential vulnerabilities that could lead to more effective cancer therapiesThis project is generously funded by the prestigious NCN Sonata Bis grant.🛠️ Develop a powerful, multidisciplinary skillset
