Working as part of Vice Chancellors Office, you will support the University Fire Safety Officer (FSO) in providing university specific fire safety guidance, enabling the University to comply with relevant legal obligations and best practice industry standards.
The main duties will involve assisting with the annual programme of fire risk assessments and inspections, following up on actions identified through the fire safety monitoring activities, assisting with the delivery of fire safety training to staff, supporting faculties / directorates with investigation into fire incidents, fire alarm activations and other events relating to increased fire risk, attending and feeding back on the effectiveness of planned fire drills and maintain all associated records.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated self-starter to help the University meet and surpass its statutory obligations for fire safety and ensuring staff and students of the University of Greenwich are healthy and safe.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a fire safety related role, up to date knowledge of fire safety legislation, experience of working to tight deadlines, maintaining records and implementing systems/procedures containing confidential / sensitive information. They will also have good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work both on their own initiative and collaboratively within the team.
