Offer DescriptionApplications are sought for Ad Astra Fellow – Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Housing and Post-Carbon Communities within theUCD College of Engineering and Architecture.The School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy (APEP) is uniquely positioned to lead in the area of housing and sustainable communities in UCD, nationally and globally. APEP is already actively engaged in projects such as Re-CUGI, which investigates the carbon impact of models of compact urban growth; Trebuchet, which involves the study of embodied carbon and adaptive reuse for housing at the scale of urban blocks; Building Stories focused on the application of data sets to understand and measure vacancy; Ripple which involves the co-design of public spaces in towns and residential neighbourhoods for climate resilience in relation to water and flooding; Probono focused on citizen engagement on mobility and transport modes and interoperability. Effective housing provision requires focus on the design of the physical structures but also the resources used, the transport network connections and the invisible social, political and economic structures that govern how society operates.Applications are invited for a permanent Lecturer/Assistant Professor position in Housing and Sustainable Communities. In particular the school is interested in strengthening their research and teaching in the areas of housing design, sustainable development, climate resilient settlements, one health in the urban environment, urban design for post-carbon society, adaptive reuse for sustainable neighbourhoods and sustainable built environments. The school is interested in increasing its focus on the research, design and implementation of one health approaches in our buildings, towns and cities. A research focus on the health implications of urban living, poor building design practices, inappropriate retrofit strategies, indoor air quality effectors and monitoring, moisture risk assessment and moisture impact are all welcome.Applicants must have a PhD in architecture, landscape architecture, planning, environmental policy, engineering or a closely related area, a high-quality publication record commensurate with stage of career, a demonstrable commitment to high-quality university-level teaching, an ability in the aforementioned research areas, and a capacity for research project management and graduate student supervision. Candidates must have a proven ability to raise peer-reviewed research funding, and a capacity and enthusiasm for working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary context in the School and the wider academic community. Applicants must also have excellent communication and presentation skills and demonstrate how they can positively contribute to fostering an inclusive environment and a level of awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion.95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above the Bar (7943) Salary Scale: €62,855 – €99,533 Per Annum
