Duties and responsibilities

As the Admissions Manager (Student Services) you’ll oversee the planning and delivery of all operational  aspects of applicant-student journey through admissions for all undergraduate programmes within the Faculty of Medicine, which includes the successful UG 6-year MBBS/BSc Medicine programme and the UG 3-or4-year BSc Medical Biosciences programme.

You will also lead on the operational development and delivery of the newly formed Pears Cumbria School of Medicine 4YFT MBBS Medicine (Graduate Entry) admissions journey which will begin from Spring 2024. This exciting new programme is a collaboration between Imperial College London and the University of Cumbria. Admissions activities for this stream will begin in Spring 2024 with ownership for recruitment held with Imperial College London, and the first cohort will begin in the 2025-2026 academic year and their place of study will be at the University of Cumbria campus in Carlisle.

The post-holder will also provide specialist advice and guidance on the evaluation of the admissions processes as well as core admission internal and external statistical reporting.

Working closely with senior management and academics, you’ll ensure that students are well supported during their admissions experience, providing high quality, timely information and responding to queries in a professional but approachable manner. You’ll manage the admissions team (at least two administrative staff), overseeing all admissions related activities, including educational recruitment initiatives and the development and review of new recruitment mechanisms, policies and processes to improve the student experience.

Essential requirements

  • You must be educated to degree Level or equivalent, with a strong awareness of current affairs in the global higher education sector, experience working in UG Admissions environment preferably in Medicine, and excellent managerial and communication skills.  
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the work practices, processes, and procedures relevant to student recruitment (OFS, HEE and UCAS), including the implications of the recommendations of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). 

  • Ability to and a willingness to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • You must be educated to degree Level or equivalent, with a strong awareness of current affairs in the global higher education sector, experience working in UG Admissions environment preferably in Medicine, and excellent managerial and communication skills.

Further information

This post is fixed term and full time for 18 months. You would be primarily based at the South Kensington campus in Southwest London, but with potential travel to other campuses to suit business needs.
