About the role

Applications are invited for the role of Admissions Officer on a fixed term (12 months) basis to cover parental leave

Admissions Officers are members of our central Admissions team, which handles a range of foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research programme applications to all the university’s Schools and Institutes. Our Admissions Officers are assigned either to the Postgraduate or Undergraduate team but are expected to work flexibly across team boundaries to ensure that applicants receive a consistently good service during peak times.

You will be responsible for receiving and processing applications to the University from initial application to registration. This will include using your judgment, expertise and knowledge to deal with queries, make decisions, issue offers, check that conditions related to the offer are met, and relaying final confirmation decisions. You will respond to all admissions-related enquiries in a timely and professional manner and provide high levels of customer service.

About you

You will have experience of working in an administrative role supporting the admission of students, ideally in UK higher education. Experience of offer-making under delegated authority from academic departments will be an advantage.

You will be customer-focussed, self-motivated and flexible, equally capable of working independently and as a member of a team. You will be capable of carrying out tasks and making decisions consistently within a clear policy and regulatory framework, referring to managers only in complex cases.

About the Department

The Admissions Office sits within External Relations directorate and its primary focus is to recruit students with the qualifications and potential to succeed. Working together with colleagues in academic Schools and professional services, we aim to provide a high-quality user experience for applicants and staff who support the applicant journey. We are committed to excellence and continuous improvement in all that we do.

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.
