Your Responsibilities

What you’ll do

Your specialist skills will allow you to provide timely assessment and treatment to patients with a wide range of trauma presentations and elective surgeries within a busy major trauma centre setting. Proven advanced skills in this area are therefore essential for the post-holder, as well as the ability to teach and train more junior therapy staff in the hospital setting. This will include providing specialist Physiotherapy advice to other specialist areas within the Major Trauma Centre and beyond.

You will be supported by a large therapy team including Clinical Specialist and Consultant Therapists. The department benefits from excellent direct links with the University of Southampton which supports our culture of learning, developing and research. The Therapy team also enjoys excellent, well-established close working relationships with Orthopaedic and Rheumatology Consultant teams. This role is ideally suited to a therapist with some experience of leadership and service improvement, that is keen to further develop these skills within a fulfilling and highly-valued role.

If you would like to arrange an informal visit, know more about this role, the Trust, or living and working in the Southampton and surrounding areas, then please get in touch with Warren Corbett, who will be very happy to discuss any aspects further with you.

What we’re looking for

This role is well-suited to a physiotherapist with proven Trauma & Orthopaedic Physiotherapy experience at Band 6 level or above, and a good understanding of the role of physiotherapy within acute orthopaedic trauma and elective surgery including complex revision surgeries in a tertiary centre, or with the ability to adapt their current skills to this setting. An understanding and experience of teaching and leading others would also be an advantage.
