We are looking to further strengthen our growing team. The analytics developer will join a team of business facing analysts, data scientists, and analytics developers located in our three sites in Ireland (Dublin, Galway, Belfast) as well offshore resources. The lead data scientist will report to the Head of MI & Analytics.The role will combine the responsibilities of data modelling and analytics development. The analytics developers will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with business stakeholders in order to provide analytical and technical support for MI/BI and analytics activities. The role requires to develop reports, dashboards and interactive data visualizations, and work with data repositories (warehouse / lake / lake house), data integration and data modelling to support business decisions, leveraging data to gain key insights into business opportunities.The analytics developer will build the company’s analytics capabilities while also ensuring distribution and delivery of high-quality analytics solutions and MI/BI artefacts. They will support the democratization of data and enablement of business users to conduct self-service analytics. The analytics developer will be instrumental on defining guardrails around self-service by setting standards and guidelines, as well as educating, training, and working with citizen analyst and developers.As part of his data modelling activities, the role holder will describe, document and model, the information that are important to the organisation. The role holder will create end user-approved data models, work with the D&A architect who “owns” the enterprise data model and develop business data glossaries and ontologies. They do this to support data quality, data privacy and security, data lineage and integration, data governance, runtime models, and database schemas — all to achieve organisation wide consensus about the meaning of data. During the data modelling activities, they will consult with relevant subject matter experts from as many departments and user bases as necessary, modelling business requirements with consistency and coordination.The individual will have strong communication skills backed by solid technical capabilities. Proven experience successfully managing the delivery of analytics projects across multiple business functions is a requirement.Regular business trips will be organised to meet key stakeholders in RSA Ireland offices (Dublin, Galway, and Belfast).Key Responsibilities:Engage with stakeholders on a regular basis to:

  • Support the Head of MI&A to prepare and steer the agile ceremonies (daily stand up, backlog refinement, sprint review, sprint planning)
  • Support the Head of MI&A to manage expectations during guardians’ sessions (value prioritisation, capacity management and delivery timelines)
  • Provide a high level of visibility on the value delivered by the team leveraging all communication channels available (ITS huddles, ITS all hands, Organisation engagement platforms: MS Teams, Spotlights and Workvivo, various events organised in the office throughout the year)
  • Display leadership qualities: influence and guide junior analysts in the team and across the business, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Support the development of Data Literacy across the organisation by:

  • Promoting data modelling, analytics, and data visualisation best practices
  • Ensure use of a common data language
  • Align stakeholders understanding of data assets and data capabilities
  • Ensure ethical data handling within the organisation including commitment to privacy regulations, data protection, and ethical use of customer information.

Continuous Learning and Innovation

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

  • The analytics developer will be at the forefront of driving data-driven decision-making within the organization. The role involves supporting the company strategy execution – leveraging data analytics to generate value for the business via improved customer and pricing insights. Here is a more detailed breakdown of the responsibilities:

Data Modelling

  • Design and support the implementation of logical and physical data models supporting the analytics needs of business stakeholders
  • Capture the structure, relationships, and constraints of relevant data elements
  • Build and operationalize complex analytics solutions, solve potential problems, define transformations and logic, recommend data cleansing/quality solutions
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with various stakeholders to understand data and business requirements and translate them into data models
  • Create entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs), data flow diagrams, and other visualization tools to represent data models
  • Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to implement and maintain data models in databases, data warehouses, data lakes, lake houses.
  • Develop data modelling best practices, and use these standards to identify and resolve data modelling issues and conflicts
  • Conduct performance tuning and functional optimization of data models for efficient data access and retrieval through semantic models.
  • Incorporate core data management competencies, including data governance, data security and data quality
  • Be prepared for dynamic requests. Whether it is evaluating the impact of regulatory changes or assessing market shifts.

Analytics Development

  • Understands the decision-making process, workflows, and business and information needs of business stakeholders
  • Map out and understand customer journeys, from quote requests to claims processing. Understand pain points, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement. Your insights will drive customer-centric enhancements, ensuring a second to none experience for policyholders.
  • Translates business needs into D&A requirements to support stakeholders’ decisions and workflows with required information input
  • Proactively mines data repositories (warehouse, lake, lake house) to identify trends and patterns and generates insights for business units and senior leadership
  • Coordinate with data owners, data stewards, and business SMEs to understand their information needs and identifies ways to visualize and present information in an efficient manner
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of analytics models (customer propensity to buy, customer lifetime value, identifying cross-selling opportunities, marketing campaign efficiency…). These models will be instrumental in refining the business strategy.
  • Supports business users experience and information architects to enhance information visualization through the development of MI/BI artefacts
  • Develops analytical strategies to solve business problems by understanding the business problem, identifying relevant data, gathering, and summarizing data meaningfully, and applying appropriate analysis
  • Data Governance and Quality Assurance
  • Uphold data integrity and quality standards. Contribute to the implementation of the governance frameworks, ensure data completeness and accuracy, and collaborate with IT teams to ensure reliable data sources. High attention to detail will be critical in maintaining trustworthy analytics.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years in a similar role
  • Quantitate or Business Management degree required (NFQ level 8 and above)
  • Proven experience as a data analyst or analytics developer providing high value outputs to business stakeholders is required
  • Proven experience handling complex projects, adhering to timelines, and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience on data modelling, visualisation and analytics projects delivered through agile/scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure technology stack (PowerBI, Synapse, Databricks) or similar
  • Good understanding of Data Warehousing / Data Visualisation / Analytics solutions architecture
  • Previous experience in the Insurance Industry would an advantage
