based on full-time€ 4,537 – € 7,056Deadline2 Jul 2025Research in the Transport Studies group focuses on interactions between smart mobility and digitalisation, transport infrastructure, land-use and behaviour, and its societal impacts (including equity, safety, climate). We conduct ground-breaking research on these issues in different national and international projects. Join our team and strive to broaden our research portfolio! The challengeDigitalisation is a main driving force of transport innovation. The design, operation and maintenance of transport systems are now undergoing a digital transformation as a result of huge amounts of information provided by emerging experimentation, testing and monitoring systems. The increased availability of mobility data, real-time traffic data and adoption of digital mobility tools, creates opportunities for improving the modelling, planning and operation of urban mobility, including private transport, public transport, shared mobility services and integrated door-to-door transport systems. For example, shared mobility services offer possibilities to expand and complement existing public transport systems in mobility hubs. Data science technologies, spatial data and geo-visualization techniques open unprecedented opportunities to significantly improve the understanding of travel patterns and management of transport systems. At the same time, there are many research challenges that need to be addressed. How does digitalization relate to sustainable and inclusive transport?
