Offer DescriptionAssistant professor position in the research and teaching staff group at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań.Employment at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy is a chance to work in a very good scientific team that will provide support in the candidate research as well as teaching. The candidate, in addition to scientific activity, will be also obligated to conduct teaching classes of up to 210 hours per year.Type of an employment contract and expected duration of employment:fixed-term employment contract for 2 years (with the possibility of extension).Required documents

• Diplomas or certificates issued by colleges and universities attesting to education and degrees or titles held (in case of academic degrees obtained abroad – the documents must meet the equivalence criteria set out in Article 328 of the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742 Polish: Dziennik Ustaw 2024 poz. 1571 t.j.);
• Information on the Applicant’s research, teaching, design, popularizing and organizational achievements, including list of:
• publications;
• research projects, in which the candidate has participated;
• internships, workshops and trainings in which the candidate has participated;
• scientific conferences and seminars attended by the candidate;
• activities in promotion and popularization of physics;
• two letters of recommendation sent directly to the following address:

• PhD in physical sciences, astronomy or related field,

• substantial publication record commensurate with the stage of the applicant’s scientific career in the discipline of physical sciences or astronomy, with particular emphasis on experimental achievements,
• strong motivation for scientific research,
• strong motivation and aptitude for teaching work.

• scientific publications in the most important international scientific journals;
• scientific publications, in which the candidate played a leading role, in particular those created without the participation of the doctoral dissertation supervisor;
• leading research projects granted as a result of open national or international competitions;
• research stays at scientific institutions;
• participation in scientific conferences;
• awards and distinctions obtained for scientific activity;
• scientific collaboration;
• experience and achievements in teaching and science outreach activities;
• research plans.

During the assessment, the Selection Committee may take into account the candidate’s scientific profile in the context of research conducted at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy of the Adam Mickiewicz University. Preference will be given to the candidates conducting experimental research in physics or astronomy. In the research plans, the candidates should describe potential collaboration opportunities with the research teams at the Faculty, particularly indicating the equipment the candidate intends to use in the research (no dedicated funds for purchasing equipment are allocated within the position).Selection process

• Competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents.
• Formal evaluation of submitted proposals.
• Call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary.
• Selection of candidates for the interview stage.
• Interviews with selected candidates who meet the formal requirements.
• The chair of the selection committee announces the results and informs the candidates. This information will include justification with a reference to candidates’ strengths and weaknesses.
