We are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Professor in Companion Animal General Practice and Didactics from 1 November 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is fixed term for four years.About the Department

Companion animal general practice is a strategic priority area within the department. The research group for companion animal general practice, dermatology and didactics is primarily focused on creating the evidence to promote companion animal health and welfare, disease prevention, infection control, antimicrobial stewardship and evidence-based teaching methods. Our research group is responsible for and is developing the core veterinary clinical curriculum that ensures new graduates have the essential day-one competencies needed for companion animal general practice. This includes both theoretical and practical propaedeutic training using simulations at the 24/7 University of Copenhagen Center for Veterinary Simulation. We focus on aligning day-one competencies across medicine and surgery with the needs of companion animal general practice.Our group is part of the Section for Clinical Practice and Diagnostics in Companion Animals. The section includes faculty, diplomates, residents, and senior clinicians. We work closely with all the University Hospital for Companion Animals’ units, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.Your Job
You will support research, teaching, and clinical curriculum development across the fields of medicine, surgery and didactics in companion animal general practice. Collaboration with companion animal practice and outreach to other research groups across the department and externally within and outside the University of Copenhagen is essential.You will be part of the research group for companion animal general practice, dermatology and didactics at the University of Copenhagen and contribute to interdisciplinary projects involving companion animal health and welfare, disease prevention, infection control and didactics. Your work will span both academic and field-based work, including potential collaborations or principal investigatory roles in Greenland-based companion animal general practice clinical and teaching initiatives.Your tasks will include:

The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within companion animal health and welfare, disease prevention, infection control, antimicrobial stewardship and didactics. To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties.Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research. The ability to attract external funding will be considered together with outreach qualifications. Documented teaching qualifications and propaedeutic and clinical teaching experience in a specialized university hospital setting is preferred.Six overall criteria apply for assistant professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen.
