LSHTM is creating a number of new roles as part of a significant investment in its research operations services which underpins our world leading research programmes.

Assistant Research Finance Manager is sought to oversee the post-award financial management of a portfolio of complex research projects. Day to day this is a busy and varied role in which the post holder will support with leading a team in:  preparation of funder financial reports, monitoring income from funders, raising supplier invoices, approving high-value transactions, and providing guidance on funder terms and conditions.

The post-holder will be responsible for delivery of an efficient, customer-focused service to the faculty, identifying and resolving issues, and contributing to long term improvements to the service through team development, and review and implementation of new processes, policies and systems. 

Applicants must hold a degree level qualification, or equivalent experience of financial management of research projects, ideally in higher education research environment. You must have experience of line management or supervision of a team, and of working in a finance and/or research administration role in the higher education sector. Experience with the Agresso financial system is highly desirable but training can be provided. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and is a maternity leave cover from December 2023. It is offered as a potential secondment or fixed term contract, for a 10-month duration until 30 September 2024 (depending on start date).

The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947-£49,908 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
