Start Date: ASAPJob OverviewThe our client is seeking a dynamic and professional Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our Food & Beverage team. The successful candidate will support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. This role is ideal for an individual with strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and an eye for detail to provide memorable dining experiences.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Duties
- Ensure the highest standard of guest service and hospitality.
- Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and professional grooming for self and staff.
- Oversee that designated uniforms are well-maintained and presentable.
- Assist in updating and implementing departmental Standards of Performance manuals.
- Monitor and assess staff performance regularly.
- Have in-depth knowledge of all hotel facilities and respond to guest inquiries effectively.
- Handle guest complaints and ensure unresolved issues are reported to management.
- Ensure compliance with company, hotel, and statutory regulations, including health and safety.
- Demonstrate fire prevention knowledge and oversee evacuation procedures when necessary.
- Maintain restaurant security, report suspicious circumstances, and ensure property safety.
- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of the restaurant area.
- Foster positive communication and teamwork within the department.
- Participate in staff induction, training, and meetings.
- Assist with staff scheduling and managing daily operations effectively.
- Deputise for the Restaurant Manager in their absence.
- Handle disciplinary and grievance matters in alignment with company policies.
Specific Duties
- Maintain complete knowledge of the menu, wine list, and special promotions , answering guest inquiries knowledgeably.
- Conduct pre-service briefings for staff before each shift.
- Supervise restaurant staff, ensuring attention to detail in all aspects of service.
- Manage staff rotas, timesheets, and administrative duties in the absence of the Restaurant Manager .
- Handle financial responsibilities such as cash handling, billing, and float management.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels for restaurant operations.
- Engage with guests, ensuring an elegant and welcoming dining experience.
- Ensure adherence to food and liquor service standards in line with the Standards of Performance Manual .
- Maintain compliance with the Weights and Measures Act and Licensing Laws .
- Ensure the safe use and storage of restaurant equipment, chemicals, and utensils.
- Assist in monitoring restaurant performance and implementing efficiency improvements.
- Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health regulations .
Person SpecificationEssential Skills & Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role within a hotel restaurant.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Hands-on operational experience, including covering for illness and running sections.
- Ability to handle guest complaints and resolve service issues effectively.
- Understanding of restaurant financials , including billing and stock management.
- Experience in staff scheduling, training, and performance monitoring .
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.
- Knowledge of restaurant management software (e.g., OpenTable, Micros, Opera).
- Strong understanding of health & safety regulations in a hospitality setting.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a high-end hotel restaurant setting.
- Knowledge of fine dining service and guest engagement.
- Familiarity with licensing laws and food safety compliance .
- Previous experience overseeing stock control and ordering.
