We would like to recruit a candidate who shares these research and knowledge exchange ambitions and can contribute to the research culture at Solent, joining our active research community. In your role, you will be supported to be involved in research, knowledge exchange and scholarly activity.
Warsash Maritime School is home to one of the world’s leading maritime institutions offering education, practical training, research and consultancy to the marine/maritime industry. We are particularly proud of the heritage of our cadet and officer education and training and the global reputation of all our courses and facilities.
The school is looking to appoint two experienced seafarers on a part-time basis to support with the education and training of deck cadets.
For the first role the successful candidate will be required to teach a range of subjects as required by the MCA and MNTB (Ship Stability, Navigation, Cargo Operations and Bridge Management). In addition, the successful applicant will be required to provide cadets with support in preparation for their MCA Orals and SQA exams.
Applicants should be able to commit to working at least 2-3 days per week on a flexible basis according to the needs of the varied demands of the programme.
The second post will require the successful applicant to deliver practical training and assessment in Efficient Deck Hand (EDH) for an Able Seafarer Deck Certificate qualification. This is a five day course delivered approx 15 times per year.
Applicants for this part-time position must possess a minimum of STCW OOW CoC (Deck) Unlimited from UK MCA, or a Royal Navy equivalent, and have current UK residence and right to work status.
Academic qualifications to degree level or academic background with research or teaching experience is desirable but not essential.
