An excellent opportunity to join the teaching team on our Foundation for Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Graduate Certificate and the MSc Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Your main task will be the preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of modules, attending meetings, liaising with students and conducting tutorials. Classes meet weekly on Saturdays starting on 22 April 2023 until December 2023 (no classes during summer recess).
Teaching is available on the following programmes:
Graduate Certificate Foundation for Counselling and Psychotherapy Training
10 weekly classes over two terms on Saturday mornings (10am – 1pm) starting in April 2023, ending December 2023.
- Theory & counselling skills session, and
- Experiential Group
MSc Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy Weekend Route
10 weekly classes over two terms on Saturday daytime starting in April 2023, ending December 2023.
9.15am – 10.30am Year 1 Theory;
11am – 12.15pm Year 2 Case Discussion;
1.30pm – 2.45pm Year 1 Observation group;
3pm – 4.15pm Year 1 Experiential group
You will be a psychodynamic counsellor or psychotherapist, or a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, trained to masters level or equivalent, with substantial, post-qualification clinical experience, some of which will ideally be in a public setting. You will have experience of different types of teaching methods and strategies appropriate to counselling/psychotherapy (in particular, both experiential and critical teaching methods).
Further to the person specification, essential requirements for this role are:
- A clinical qualification in psychodynamic counselling, psychodynamic psychotherapy, or psychoanalytic psychotherapy ;
- A current clinical practice and substantial, post-qualification clinical experience, some of which will ideally be in a public setting;
- Teaching experience appropriate to the level of the course you are applying to teach;

Remuneration
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £65.12 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
