As an Associate Professor, you will be actively involved in both research and education. The research within this position is embedded in CAPHRI (Care and Public Health Research Institute) and has a multidisciplinary character.The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Developing and conducting research aligned with the Department of Health Promotion, preferably in the field of understanding health behaviour;
• Translating scientific insights on health behaviour into health-promoting interventions that have a real-world impact;
• Designing and delivering education, for example, in the Bachelor’s program in Health Sciences and the Master’s program in Health Education and Promotion;
• Actively seeking collaboration with colleagues in both research and education;
• Aligning research with ongoing activities/projects within CAPHRI, particularly within the Research Line Promoting Health and Personalized Care.

Requirements
In terms of profile, we are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

• A PhD in the field of health promotion and/or behavioural sciences;
• Experience in supervising PhD candidates and proactively securing research funding;
• Expertise in relevant research methods for understanding health behaviour, particularly using quantitative methods, with a willingness to explore and use innovative approaches;
• A strong commitment to Open Science and the motivation to implement it in practice;
• If not yet proficient in Dutch, willingness to learn it over time;
• A University Teaching Qualification (BKO) or the willingness to obtain one.

What we offer
As an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

• Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 13 according to UFO profile Associate Professor level 2, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €6286,00 and €7651,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
• An employment contract for a period of 12 months (internal candidates) or 18 months (external candidates) with a scope of 1,0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
• At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
