We seek to recruit a tenure-track assistant professor or an associate professor that is active in the emerging edge computing areas of Embedded AI, Edge AI, TinyML or AIoT. We are specifically interested in candidates that employ embedded intelligence within traditional embedded systems fields, such as networked embedded systems, distributed sensing systems, mobile and wearable systems, ubiquitous systems, and the (Industrial) Internet of Things. Candidates who are well established in traditional embedded systems fields will also be considered and are welcome to apply.This role is instrumental in attracting both funding and student talent to expand our activities. As a member of our team, you will support our teaching and play a key role in shaping the expanding the ESE section. As a part of your key responsibilities, you will:

  • Publish impactful work in leading journals and conferences in your field.
  • Secure funding for your research area from both Denmark and the European Union.
  • Teach, guide, and supervise BSc and MSc students, as well as supervise PhD students.
  • Design and develop novel course modules for both the BSc and MSc levels.
  • Actively participate in creating a robust and vibrant environment within the expanding ESE section. Collaboration both within ESE and with external groups is strongly encouraged.
  • Serve as an ambassador of ESE and DTU Compute by participating in international research projects, international collaboration networks, conference organisation committees, editorial boards, assessment committees, etc.

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.The following qualifications are a plus:

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.The starting date is according to mutual agreement, with a preferred date in early 2026.
