Batch & Furnace Operative – Shifts
Knottingley Plant

Role description

In conjunction with supervision the Batch & Furnace Operative has a key role in maintaining the efficient operation of the batch plant and supporting department function.

Responsibilities:

-Acceptance of raw materials to specification ensuring quality is maintained
-Monitor stock and condition of materials used to manufacture the required glass quality
-Operation of the Batch Plant ensuring raw materials are weighed and mixed to issued recipe
-Autonomous maintenance activities for batch plant, Filter plants and basement operations  
-Identification and action resolutions to maintain Batch plant operation with support teams
-Monitor and inspect material transport systems from storage silo to weigh scale and furnace
-Maintain basement and cullet quencher operation and support operation of filter plants. 

Required skills / qualifications:

-Ability to operate various vehicles – Skid Steer and Wheel loader, Cullet Wagon & FLT – (training will be given).
-Worked in the Glass Manufacturing Industry (desirable).
-Worked in a Batch & Furnace Plant (desirable).
-Good standard of numeracy and literacy skills.

-Salary Minimum £38,398 – £44,895 maximum per annum
-Salary sacrifice pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions
-Normal shift pattern is determined by the 5-crew shift rota, however, typically consists of a two 12-hour day shifts followed by two 12-hour night shifts and then a six-day rest period, which includes 21 shifts when working the 5 crew 12-hour shift rota – Holidays are built into the shift 5 crew rota
