For over a decade Cycle Confident have been at the forefront of cycling development across the UK. Their innovation has led to an unparalleled level of experience and knowledge – building a future where everyone has the confidence to cycle from day to day as part of leading healthy, active lives.

The focus of this KTP is to improve the effectiveness and reach of cycle training initiatives for adults and children by leveraging participant surveys and wider contextual data. You will oversee and manage a new project to develop a first-of-its-kind, evidence-based approach to monitor success and target interventions strategically which will then be operationalised in the form of a new in-house data dashboard. This position, at the nexus of industry and academia, in the fields of analytics and insights, will be based at Cycle Confident in London (Oval) and in collaboration with Dr Masoud Fakhimi from Surrey Business School and Dr Alex Hagen-Zanker from the School of Sustainability, Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Surrey.

We are looking for you to ideally have a Ph.D. in a subject related to Business Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Geographical Information Science or Transport, or an MSc with strong data analytics focus and relevant work experience. You should have a basic understanding or experience of project management. Key to the role is experience of data analysis and visualisation in a programming environment, and the ability to map business and information processes and reflect in reports and other forms of documentation.

This position is offered on a 36-month, fixed-term contract. You will benefit from business-based training, a generous dedicated training budget and time ringfenced specifically for your further development, in addition to a diverse range of technical and non-technical skills (such as project management and leadership). There may be potential to secure a permanent job with Cycle Confident at the end of the KTP.

Interviews likely to be in mid October 2023.

The interview process will consist of two interviews;

  • the first interview a Video Interview with representatives from the University and Cycle Confident.
  • for those who are successful at the first interview, a second and final interview in person at Cycle Confident premises in Oval, London.
