Job Title: Buyer Employer: Trona Products Ltd Location: Ballincollig, Cork city, Co. Cork, Ireland Salary: 40k p.a. Weekly Hours: 39 hrs/w We are a Grocery/FMCG Wholesale company seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our dynamic team. This role will be to manage all administrative functions within the business. This will also include liaising and communicating with suppliers and customers. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of goods needed to support the company’s needs. Responsibilities: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, high-quality products, and reliable delivery schedules. Processing orders using SAGE (raising POs, Delivery Notes, Invoicing etc.). Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure consistent supply while minimizing excess inventory. Scheduling collection & delivery of orders (both import & export) efficiently, accurately & in a timely manner Negotiate favourable pricing and contract terms with suppliers to maximize cost savings without compromising quality or delivery timelines. Place and track orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and products; resolve any discrepancies in shipments or invoices. Assist in creating and managing the purchasing budget; ensure that purchasing decisions are within budgetary constraints. Continuously research market trends and emerging suppliers to identify potential opportunities for cost savings or product improvements. Maintain accurate records of purchases, prices, and supplier information; prepare regular reports on procurement activities and performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to purchasing practices. Manage internal procurement processes (sales history, forecasting demand, purchase requisitions, stock purchase orders, stock transfers) as well as supply-chain considerations (capacity, constraints, lead times, delivery schedules) – to ensure material requirements are met ‘on time & in full’. Administrative duties as required and Ad Hoc duties. Completion of weekly/monthly reports. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Experience as a Buyer or in a similar role desirable. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software (ERP experience is a plus). Knowledge of Logistics/ Supply Chain. Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Key Competencies: Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
