Description – Call for Expression of Interest for a joint application under the upcoming Call for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025University of Genoa, UNIGE, located in Genoa, ITALY, welcomes postdoctoral researchers of any nationality, with an excellent track record, to apply to the European Commission Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025. Our University has been beneficiary of several MSCA-PF in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.The Marie Sklodowska Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship is one of funding scheme of the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme, dedicated to excellent research promoting international mobility, as well as interdisciplinary and intersectoral exchanges.MSCA fellowship grant provides a competitive salary plus mobility and family allowances if applicable, as well as a contribution to cover research, training and networking costs. The research projects will have 2- or 3-years duration.Selected candidates will be provided with special support for proposal writing and development.The University of Genoa will organize in May the fifth edition of the Masterclass MSCA@UniGe. Selectedcandidate researchers will have the opportunity to attend a 2-days online intensive training and coaching course on how to write a successful proposal. This masterclass is a pathway of support to candidates and their supervisors in preparing project proposal, including prescreening activity of the draft proposals and the organisation of dedicated B2B meetings, by the European Research Office of UniGe, National Contact Point and other experts.The masterclass will take place on May/June2025.More information:MSCA domain: Physics (PHY)Research Project DescriptionMy research activity actually in progress at the Physics department deals mainly with three topics that can be briefly descripted as follows: 1) Metal-based (Titanium, Niobium, Tantalum and their alloys) biomaterials development for osteointegration improvement and antimicrobial capabilities; 2) Macromolecule/surface interaction studies for adsorption reduction and smart packaging development; 3) DNA-based biosensors development, with particular interests in low Limit of Detection improvement for disease biomarkers.Research GroupThe physics department of Genova has been selected as one of the 180 best Department of State Universities (in the 2018-2022 period) with strong financial support.The Biophysics research group is composed of 5 professors, 2 researchers, 1 technician, and some postdoctoral/Ph.D. students, with cultural backgrounds mainly in physics but also in engineering, material science, and biology.In the laboratory, we have Atomic Force Microscopy (in particular a JPK Nanowizard IV with QI working mode, suitable for studies on cells/soft materials), confocal fluorescence equipped with Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) (with the possibility of correlation with the JPK AFM), spectrofluorimetry, spectrophotometry, dynamic light scattering. We also have full access to X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy, Spectroscopic ellipsometry, micro Raman, and availability of Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy and Fourier-Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy.ApplicationAn expression of interest shall be sent to prof.
