An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Student Development Team within the Academic Section for a newly-created Careers Consultant positions.
This is a management position which combines a student caseload with working proactively with key stakeholders, careers service colleagues and academic departments to provide consultancy, expert labour market analysis and employability advice to support graduate outcomes.
A job share arrangement for this role can be considered.
Duties of the Role
You will join a supportive and growing team tasked with leading the service’s strategic thematic service areas, by developing effective partnerships with key stakeholders and providing expert, evidence-based advice and consultancy. Current strategic priorities include Equality Diversity and Inclusion, International Students, and Postgraduate Students, and it is intended that the new appointee will lead on one of these areas initially depending on prior experience, interest and service requirements.
The role will also be supporting the planning and delivery of Extracted Employability across the Institution, as well as using data to inform the agile delivery of embedded employability.
The post holder will play a key role in ensuring that every student is offered effective and appropriate employability support through designing and delivering embedded employability and delivery of careers guidance, which is aligned with strategic priorities and supports students as they move through the University and prepare for time beyond Essex.

The post holder will bring considerable, directly relevant and professional expertise and experience to support students to achieve excellent outcomes.
