Overview
The Careers and Enterprise Team’s mission is to develop the employability of Queen Mary University of London students from their arrival at the university until three years after graduation. The Careers and Enterprise Team consists of around 54 FTE staff, working in partnership with academic schools and employers to provide an inclusive portfolio of careers support and opportunities to Queen Mary students and graduates. Our vision is to proactively open the doors of opportunity for Queen Mary students and graduates by innovating and collaborating with our community. We are committed to supporting our diverse student population, distinctive for a Russell Group University, as evidenced by the Institute of Fiscal Studies/Sutton Trust report which considers Queen Mary the top university for social mobility.
About the role
The postholder will lead a team of Careers Consultants within the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to ensure high quality delivery in line with the strategic direction of the service. Skilled in motivating your team, you will support Careers Consultants to embed creative and coherent careers and employability support.
The postholder will also perform Careers Consultant duties (circa 80% of the time), demonstrating best practice when working with academic departments to design and deliver effective careers education, advice and guidance. This role will be based in the School of Business Management and School of Economics and Finance, as well as contributing to the central programme. No specific background in this area is required as Team Leaders need to have the flexibility to work across all academic schools.

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.
Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability.
We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic
as these groups are underrepresented at this level at Queen Mary.
