The specific responsibilities for this role will be managing the delivery of statutory, mandatory, reactive, planned and preventative hard service maintenance across the KCL Estate. Improving service delivery, with specific reference to record keeping, asset uptime and staff training and development. 

The role will deliver enhanced levels of infrastructure maintenance within the existing framework and will facilitate a continuous improvement cycle to be established and implemented. 

This post will be offered on a full-time, indefinite contract.

  • Setting Individual Managers’ output requirements 
  • Developing, maintaining and managing the maintenance strategy  
  • Identification and implementation of operational best practice 
  • Management of the delivery of energy management projects and PPM Tasks. 
  • Developing maintaining and management of all contractors and Term service contracts across the Estate  
  • Maximising internal capability to reduce 3rd party reliance 
  • Minimise business operational risk 
  • Liaison with Asset Improvement team to develop best Life Cycle cost and use profiles for all assets. 
  • Responsible for all Research and Health Critical areas and HVAC Plant. 
  • Proven leadership in order to drive a demanding and challenging function to deliver results and continuous improvement

Essential criteria  

1.       HND/C in Building Services or Degree (or equivalent) 

2.       Higher education and research estate maintenance 

3.       Knowledge and understanding of Engineering operations within multiple environments 

4.       Strong technical and environmental awareness 

5.       Senior managerial experience 

6.       Strong IT skills including Excel, Teams etc. 

7.       Excellent interpersonal skills and experience with senior stakeholders 

8.       Ability to lead on change management programmes 

9.       Budget management  

10.    Ability to develop and identify successful technical solutions  

Desirable criteria

1.       NEBOSH 

2.       Energy management
