Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Security Health Plan Chief Medical Officer partners with Security Health Plan’s Chief Executive Officer to guide overall directions and decisions of the corporate strategic plan approved by the SHP Board of Directors. The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for directing medical, wellness, quality and pharmacy operations of the health plan and partners with Security Health Plan Medical Directors and departmental directors to provide leadership for activities within those departments. The Chief Medical Officer serves as a senior executive of the organization’s strategic committee(s), participating in medical and wellness planning and policy development and serves as a resource to areas of Security Health Plan. As a leader and trusted advisor, the Chief Medical Officer will work to advance the organization’s mission, vision and core values.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)

Preferred/Optional: Master’s degree in business administration (M.B.A.), public health (M.P.H.), healthcare administration (M.H.A.)

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: Ten years of medical practice experience. Four years of leadership experience as a health plan medical director or similar leadership position in the health care industry. Demonstrated understanding of healthcare and medical economics in managed healthcare and evidence of applying this knowledge in day-to-day activities.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: State of Wisconsin license to Practice Medicine & Surgery.

Preferred/Optional: Board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
