Based in Brussels and active in over a dozen countries, the European Institute of Peace ( ) is an independent organisation working collaboratively with the parties to the conflict, those who represent people suffering from insecurity or at risk of violence, as well as European decision-makers and the conflict prevention, resolution and mediation community.We provide practical experience, technical expertise, and policy advice on conflict resolution. Reporting to the Climate and Environmental Peacemaking Programme Manager and working closely with the whole project team, the Analyst will conduct desk-based research and data analysis to support the production of several research and analysis outputs as part of the Institute’s Environmental Pathways for Reconciliation in Yemen project. The role also implies writing and editing responsibilities for a variety of formats.Project contextEIP’s Climate and Environmental Peacemaking (CEPM) Programme seeks to gear up conflict resolution to respond to climate change and broader environmental challenges in conflict contexts to contribute to a sustainable environment and enhance the prospects for durable peace. We support peace leaders and local communities to address climate and environmental concerns in the broader framework of peace processes, in conflict prevention and resolution.The Environmental Pathways for Reconciliation (EPfR) project is being implemented by EIP since early 2023. Using environmental issues as entry points and elements of a sustainable peace in Yemen, the EPfR project engages different strata of the Yemeni society to identify and act upon security and conflict risks emerging from the impacts of unsustainable natural resources governance, environmental degradation, and climate change.You willWork closely with the project team at EIP, an analyst is required to support the delivery of specific outputs of the Environmental Pathways for Reconciliation in Yemen project, including thematic assessments of the environmental impact of conflict, analysis of environmental consultation data, climate security profiles and communication outputs.The role of the Analyst will include, but may not be limited to, the following responsibilities:
The Analyst will further remain available for ad hoc support in response to unexpected needs or requests arising during the implementation of the project, for instance translation or review of documents.Your skills and experience
