Summary

on the Climate Emergency UK scorecard. We have an exciting
opportunity for a climate officer on a permanent contract with hybrid working (2-3 days a week
in the office).

that our Climate Strategy and
delivery plans have been adopted.
About the role
As a climate officer, you will contribute to the council’s response to the climate emergency,
through the delivery of the council’s Climate Strategy.
Leading on one or two of the Climate Strategy delivery themes, you will be managing a number of
multi-disciplinary project teams using your specialist knowledge and work with managers and
partners to develop and implement a corporate and partnership approach to responding to the
climate emergency in Wiltshire.
You will implement a range of climate projects, including externally funded contracts, taking
responsibility for all aspects of the project including supervision of external consultants and
project staff.
You will monitor changes in national and regional policy and be responsible for interpreting
this for its impact on local policy and delivery. You will lead the preparation of responses to
public consultations in areas of policy-relevant to the climate emergency and provide
specialist advice and input to Cabinet reports, relevant planning applications, Freedom of
Information requests, and procurement decisions.
About you
We are looking for someone with:
- Expert knowledge of climate issues through a relevant degree (or equivalent) and
significant experience in a similar role. - Strong project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
with senior managers, councillors and external stakeholders.
