  • SVQ level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus experience in healthcare administration or experience in a secretarial role
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change
  • Evidence of strong communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Evidence of strong competence with relevant IT systems
  • Audio typing skills

It would be great if you also have:

  • Accredited SACT course / Module
  • General Administrative background with experience in a healthcare administration or experience in a secretarial role.
  • Knowledge of WinScribe/Badger Electronic
  • Sound knowledge of digital dictation system and TrakCare
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word for Windows).
  • Accurate spelling
  • Flexibility

If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety – you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
