We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Communications Executive to work with the CEO, the three Scheme Directors and the rest of the REAL team to develop and deliver our PR and communications work,
using your initiative to reach new audiences on and offline.

Your key tasks and responsibilities 

1.  Running an active and engaging social media and online programme promoting the activities
of REAL

You will develop an engaging social media strategy to promote REAL and its individual schemes.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities on REAL’s social media platforms
(LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook), producing engaging graphics, audio and video content. Beyond
social media, you will post stories, blogs and news releases to the REAL scheme websites. You
will provide a monthly report on all social media and online content activity to monitor the
effectiveness of the strategy. 

2.  Reaching target audiences through external channels and events

Building on the strong networks that REAL have in place you will contribute to and invite
comment from relevant publications, websites and other opinion-formers, supporting the
production of press releases, blogs and opinion pieces. You will maintain relationships with
relevant event organisers securing REAL’s schemes’ presence at relevant events.

3.  Ensuring the strength and purpose of each REAL scheme is
well-articulated throughout our communications

 Through your work, you will ensure consistency in the way REAL presents the unique selling
point (USP) for each policy area and scheme and work with policy experts and Scheme Directors
to strengthen the messaging and positioning of our work. 

4.  Co-ordinating a series of webinars for members and scheme participants

You will assist with the provision of training webinars for each scheme’s participants and
members. This is an important element of ensuring they benefit fully from the schemes.

5.  Carrying out other tasks as and when required

As a small organisation working in a fast-paced environment you will also assist with other ad
hoc duties, as required, giving you the opportunity to learn about diverse topics in this
exciting sector. You may find yourself, speaking to journalists from trade publications, or
discussing compostable packaging with Supermarket chains.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone with 1-2 years’ previous PR and communications experience. While you
might not have a background in environmental issues you should have an interest in getting
involved in tackling climate change and the race to net zero. You should be able to demonstrate that you are a quick learner who
can work across multiple topics in a self-sufficient manner. You should have excellent writing skills and be able to summarise complex arguments succinctly.

Renewable Energy Assurance Limited (REAL) carries out a range of certification and consumer
protection activities all of which promote renewable energy and the circular economy.
Activities fall under three headings: consumer codes, certification schemes and registration

Work environment

REAL has an office in central London. Most staff members enjoy working flexibility with a
minimum of two days spent in the office each week. After completing a home working assessment,
you will be able to negotiate with your line manager which days suit you. Office hours are from
9am to 5:30pm but we support flexible working and encourage staff to set their own timetables.

We are a small company where you will get to know everyone and have the chance to learn about
different aspects of the renewable energy and circular economy sectors.
