EXCITING OPPORTUNITY WITHIN NORTHUMBERLAND CYPS The Children and Young People’s Service provide an integrated service for children with persistent, moderate to severe mental health concerns, who have received a previous targeted intervention from other services and have shown little or no improvement.We deliver a wide range of evidence based interventions through clearly defined care pathways. Development opportunities can be accessed via our comprehensive internal training programme. We have a robust supervision structure for staff, alongside peer support.Our Mental Health pathway undertakes assessment and intervention to children and young people with complex mental health needs, including anxiety, low mood, self-harm and trauma. Clinicians will work within a collaboratively care planned approach, should be able to work autonomously and within a multi- disciplinary team.We are keen to recruit clinicians with experience in working with children and young people, and who can work collaboratively with partner agencies.Main duties of the jobCarrying a complex caseload of young people requiring therapeutic interventions.Provide training and clinical supervision/support to the wider team.Attendance at multi agency meetings and risk management group.Support with transition work and audits as appropriate.   • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
  • Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Children’s Mental Health
  • Experience of working in the community
  • Trained and experienced in evidence based therapy

Skills and CompetenciesEssential

  • Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance).
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Evidence of a high level of professional, organisational and leadership skills (self & others).

Knowledge and ExperienceEssential

  • 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
  • Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
