This is a substantive Consultant Dermatologist appointment at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.The post is for 10 PAS at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Consultants may be asked to work at other sites.This post is based at the NNUHFT and applications are invited from candidates with experience of Mohs micrographic surgery and an interest in Dermatological surgery and Skin Cancer.The NNUH Dermatology team includes 15 substantive consultants, 3 nurse consultants and 1 locum consultant.A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. The Trust operates job share and flexible working.Main duties of the jobThe appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.All consultants, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust’s Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and be expected to serve on this committee.Annual and study leave should be taken with at least 6 weeks’ notice in collaboration with colleagues and fitting with the requirements of the department.Further, the appointee will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, whereby all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.About usJoin us at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and be part of a workforce of over 10,000 staff!The NNUH is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK, providing first-class acute care for around one million people, living in Norfolk and surrounding areas. Qualifications
Essential

  • Full GMC Registration, MRCP (or FRCS plastics) or equivalent
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register Via o CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) o Portfolio pathway/ CESR

Desirable

  • PhD or MD

Aptitudes
Essential

  • Good communicator.
  • Demonstrates skills and aptitude needed to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.

Desirable

  • Previous responsibility for service improvement.
  • Management skills

Experience
Essential

  • Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
  • Dermatology secondary care experience at level of consultant in UK.
  • Competencies at Consultant level in Mohs micrographic surgery, working independently.

Desirable

  • Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest
  • Mohs fellowship completed.

  • Flexible outlook on working hours.
  • Must live within a 15-mile radius of the base Trust or 30 minutes travelling time.
  • Full Driving License.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues, colleagues in pathology and support staff
  • Good knowledge of, and ability to use, spoken and written English
  • Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries

  • Good presentation skills.
