We are looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated Consultant to work in the Inpatients/Crisis Team based at the Stonebow Unit, Hereford.You will cover approximately 12 patients on mixed general adult Mortimer Ward and 1x/week Crisis Team and be supported by 2 junior doctors, ANP and/or ST4 trainee. Mortimer Ward is undergoing refurbishment to provide a modern, therapeutic environment for acute adult patients. You will be delivering ECT alongside other consultants and join 1 in 11 on-call rota. You will have a dedicated office and a secretary.The Trust is committed to delivering the best mental health care and support the leadership development of their clinicians. The overall sessional pay with on-call commitments will be 11 PA+ 1PA retention+1%+3%.The county of Herefordshire is a classic mix of rural and city living and can provide an excellent work/life balance.This post has been deemed by the Trust as eligible for relocation expenses which will be applicable for suitable successful candidate(s). Please see attached policy for more information.Main duties of the jobMortimer Ward is a 20 bed mixed gender ward, admitting on average 5 patients a week, 60% of the patients are detained. The 2 Consultants covering the ward share the caseload, the vacancy is for covering the South of Herefordshire. This post is well-established and for many years filled by long-term colleagues; it became available due to an early retirement of the previous consultant. There is a weekly local teaching programme and a Trusts Grand Rounds monthly. You will be supported in your CPD and development of a special interest. QualificationsEssential

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• CCT holder or equivalent (or within 6 months of becoming eligible for CCT)
• Current full registration with the GMC (or eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment).
• GMC Licence to practice.
• MRC Psych (or equivalent)
• Approval (or eligible for approval) under Section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act.

• Higher degree of other qualification in research methodology.
• Qualification or previous training in leadership.
• Qualification and/or experience in providing training for doctors

Skills & AbilitiesDesirable

• An interest to participate in on-going research projects, especially putting research into practice.
• Publish research.
• Ability to work across teams and disciplinary boundaries in a collaborative style.
• Experience and interest in providing training and teaching for a variety of staff group
• A track record of innovative practice.
• Be able to demonstrate experience of working with colleagues outside mental health professions.
