At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.Smith+Nephew’s Corporate Account Management (CAM) Team is a key driver for sustainable and profitable growth across Business Units (BUs) in the International Region (i.e. the established markets in Europe and Asia/Pacific). The team leads Smith+Nephew’s collaboration with strategic accounts such as private hospital groups, handling senior partner relationships and gathering business opportunities across Business Units, through large tenders, deals and strategic projects.We are looking for someone based in Italy (main cities) and the scope of this role will be Italy.What will you be doing?Reporting to the Vice President Commercial Operations & Corporate Accounts, International and closely collaborating with the cluster BU Directors and their leadership teams as well as functional leaders in Finance, Legal, Marketing and Market Access.

  • Developing corporate account plans for the assigned accounts, and private hospital groups
  • Performing customer, market and competitive analyses
  • Analyzing key commercial and clinical decision-makers and their relationship with Smith+Nephew
  • Evaluating open sales potentials and contractual opportunities
  • Setting account targets, strategies and action plans
  • Monitoring account sales performance and margin evolution
  • Establishing strong relationships with relevant decision-makers
  • Analyzing the accounts’ procurement strategy and requirements as well as the decision-making process, partners and boards
  • Developing a deep understanding of customer needs and priorities
  • Planning and coordinating partner engagement activities with the BU directors and their respective teams
  • Leading successful deal negotiations for all BUs
  • Preparing and performing strategic customer meetings
  • Leading deal teams nationally and internationally (where appropriate)
  • Aligning deal objectives and strategies as well as commercial and contractual models with the BUs and developing offers accordingly
  • Concluding contracts and and tracking implementation
  • Performing win/loss-bid analyses
  • Monitoring commercial operations (e.g. consignment) and billing processes in the strategic accounts
  • Driving strategic customer projects and partnerships in focus areas such as arthroscopy and robotics
  • Developing new value-based solutions, commercial approaches and contractual models as well as sharing standard methodologies within the Smith+Nephew CAM community across clusters

What will you need to be successful?

  • Academic (Commercial, Marketing, Finance or Engineering) degree
  • 5-10 years of experience in sales and/or commercial management as well as marketing in the medical devices industry, ideally in the areas of sports medicine or orthopaedics
  • Strong discernment and analytical skills
  • Results-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Italian healthcare market, including private and public providers, purchasing groups and private payers (medical insurances)
  • Experience in developing successful negotiation strategies and leading deal teams, ideally also internationally
  • Track record in building robust relationships with senior decision-makers within strategic accounts
  • Ability to develop comprehensive internal networks in the BUs and supporting functions, also at an international level
  • Strong project and process management skills
  • Excellent spoken and written Italian and English language skills
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to motivate others
  • High level of self-awareness
  • Courage to challenge the status quo
  • Energy and passion for the business
