About the role
This role is employed by University of Derby but works in partnership with Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd, therefore in order to undertake this position an individual must hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work that Rolls-Royce Submarines Ltd conducts and the protection of certain assets a person must be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
About the role
We are looking for a person within the Engineering Industry to join our Buxton & Leek College part of the University of Derby as a Curriculum Leader in Engineering. The role holder will be responsible for the Mechanical Engineering courses to Level 3 apprentices and the Manufacturing Technicians Apprenticeship with the HNC qualifications.
The role will be based at the Nuclear Skills Academy based in Derby with Rolls Royce apprentices.
The apprenticeships, designed and delivered by the University of Derby, are:
- Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship
- Engineering Technician Apprenticeship
The successful applicant will have responsibility to the development of curriculum, the management of delivery staff, the achievement of income targets, compliance with pay and non-pay cost criteria , timetabling and the achievement of statistical performance targets.
The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant teaching qualification.

Qualifications
- Degree or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Recognised teaching qualification at level 4/5
Experience
- Experience in designing and implementing course products, including deriving schemes of work from awarding body qualification specifications.
- Experience as a teacher in the further education and skills
- Demonstrable experience of successfully managing teams and growing a customer focused, “can- do” culture of teamwork.
- Experience of working with high profile employers
Skills, knowledge & abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use IT to a high level of
