Data Centre Engineer / Critical Site Engineer (Electrical)

The Role As a Data Centre Engineer / Critical Site Engineer, you will maintain and support critical electrical infrastructure within a live data centre environment, including:
– UPS systems (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
– Standby generators
– LV/HV electrical distribution systems
– Switchgear and control systems
– Building Management Systems (BMS)
You will work in a safety-critical, high-performance environment, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations
– Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
– Maintain and fault-find critical electrical systems
– Complete technical reports and maintain accurate documentation
– Use CMMS systems for job tracking and compliance
– Support 24/7 operations, including on-call rota participation
– Respond to and escalate critical incidents effectively
Team & Contractor Management
– Supervise subcontractors and ensure safe working practices
– Assist with remedial works, upgrades, and small projects
Compliance & Safety
– Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) standards
– Attend training, team meetings, and technical briefings
Requirements Essential
– Level 2 & Level 3 Electrical Qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
– 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
– Experience in electrical maintenance (facilities, building services, or industrial environments)
– Strong fault-finding and PPM knowledge
– Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
– Experience in data centres or critical environments
– HVAP / LVAP Authorisation
– Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and critical power infrastructure
