vacanciesin.eu

The Centre for Academic Language and Development is located within the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences, but works with students of all backgrounds at all levels across a growing range of disciplines throughout the University of Bristol.  As a centre, we strive to work according to the principles of development, reflexivity, autonomy, collaboration, transparency and transferability in everything we do. Our vision is to be a cutting-edge centre that works with all individuals to develop their communication in academic contexts through developing and sharing expertise, transforming individuals, communicating across boundaries, informing research and being research-informed and putting our principles into practice.

As one of three Deputy Directors, you will join the Senior Management Team of a Centre that has seen dramatic growth over the last 5 years at a time when the University of Bristol is moving from a focus on international recruitment to the development of an environment where international students can thrive and grow in a rapidly changing and challenging world. As well as contributing to the overall strategic leadership and management of the Centre and deputising for the Director where appropriate, you will lead on the continued development of our International Foundation Programme, delivering a high-quality experience for an increasingly diverse group of students and staff. Relationship building will be the key to successful delivery of this role, which involves working collaboratively with all three Faculties, central Professional Services divisions such as Education and Student Success, and Global Engagement, as well as with our external IFP recruitment partner.

We are looking for someone who has significant experience of leading a team of teaching professionals in the Higher Education sector with a passion for innovation and excellence in education, especially at level 3. You will be aware of the challenges and opportunities facing International Foundation Programmes and have the energy, enthusiasm, and resilience to lead positive change.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Maxine Gillway, Director of the Centre for Academic Language and Development via email: [email protected].

The selection process will include an interview, focus group and presentation on Friday 3rd May. For further details of the role please click on the link below to the job description and person specifications.

We recently launched our strategy  to 2030 tying together our mission, vision and values.

The University of Bristol aims to be a place where everyone feels able to be themselves and do their best in an inclusive working environment where all colleagues can thrive and reach their full potential. We want to attract, develop, and retain individuals with different experiences, backgrounds and perspectives – particularly people of colour, LGBT+ and disabled people – because diversity of people and ideas remains integral to our excellence as a global civic institution.
