Join our dynamic Global Engagement division as the Deputy Director of International and Director of the Centre for Study Abroad (CfSA) within the International Office. In this exciting role, you’ll be at the forefront of a groundbreaking initiative within the University of Bristol.

As the visionary leader, you will be entrusted with establishing, managing, and expanding the Centre for Study Abroad. Collaborating closely with the CfSA Academic Director in the Faculty of Arts, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the experiences of incoming study abroad students.

Your expertise will shine as you provide leadership across the University, championing international student mobility. You’ll work in tandem with esteemed colleagues, both at the senior level and within our faculty-based teams, to deliver the ambitious objectives of the CfSA.

  • Develop and implement CfSA strategy in alignment with the University’s Internationalisation and Global Engagement sub-strategy.
  • Create annual operational plans and budgets, delegating responsibilities to the CfSA management team when appropriate to meet international student mobility targets.
  • Lead target setting for student mobility within the Integrated Planning Process, collaborating with faculties and finance teams, and making resource requests as needed.
  • Identify and address barriers to international student mobility, optimising efficiency, managing risks, and ensuring value for money.
  • Represent the University in international contexts, identify partnership opportunities, and lead negotiations with partners.
  • Collaborate with External Relations and North America and China Offices to create an integrated recruitment and marketing strategy that supports CfSA objectives.

We’re seeking an exceptional candidate with extensive experience in Higher Education internationalisation, including a visionary approach to enhancing international student mobility. You should be a strategic thinker capable of developing and implementing plans and processes, and a proven leader who can drive transformative change and establish or expand functions within the education sector. Your leadership style should balance strategic vision with operational excellence, promoting collaboration and autonomy. Exceptional organisational, budgeting, and staff management skills are essential, along with the ability to manage high-value initiatives and build effective relationships. Your strong diplomatic communication skills enable you to engage with international stakeholders confidently and influence outcomes.
