Director of Operations
Salary: A‚¬80,000 gross per annum + bonus
Location: Rome, Italy

A well known 5-star property in the heart of Rome is looking for an experienced and hands-on Director of Operations to lead the hotel’s day-to-day operations with a strong focus on excellence, sustainability, and locally rooted hospitality.

This role requires a leader with prior experience in similar environments, capable of managing key operational departments and closely partnering with culinary, Housekeeping, front of house and F&B teams to deliver a meaningful and consistent guest experience. The ideal candidate has previous experience in luxury hospitality in a similar position.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee daily hotel operations, working directly with key department heads including Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, and Culinary.
* Maintain close coordination with the Executive Chef and F&B leadership to align service standards with brand and operational objectives.
* Ensure service quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction while aligning with brand values centered on wellness and environmental awareness.
* Monitor and manage departmental performance, support budgeting, P&L oversight, and financial forecasting in collaboration with the GM.
* Conduct regular reporting and audits in coordination with the corporate office; ensure compliance with operational standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Act as the primary operational leader on-site, ensuring smooth and professional execution across all guest-facing and back-of-house functions.

Qualifications & Profile

* Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as Director of Operations in a 5-star luxury hotel environment; experience in wellness- or sustainability-focused properties is highly preferred.
* Deep operational knowledge, with particular strength in F&B and Culinary coordination .
* Strong background working in destinations or brands with a clear emphasis on sustainability and local sourcing.
* Fluent in English and Italian ; additional languages are a plus.
* Strong communication, leadership, and people development skills.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple departments and guide cross-functional teams.
* Financially literate, with proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to corporate stakeholders.
* Comfortable working with auditing processes, corporate KPIs, and reporting structures.
