King's College London
King’s College London is an internationally renowned research-intensive university with a track-record of pioneering thinking and the limitless energies of the city’s businesses, policy-makers, entrepreneurs and change-makers to draw on. We put our commitment to drive positive change at the heart of our research and education. King’s Strategy 2026 brings even sharper focus to our efforts to scale up our research, education, UK and global partnerships, philanthropy and impact in sustainability. We see supporting society’s growing expectation that companies become more ethical, inclusive and sustainable as central to our efforts.
Based in the heart of London, King’s Business School is the ninth and newest faculty at King’s College London, having opened in 2017. It is accredited by AACSB and EQUIS and was rated one of the top 10 business schools for research in the UK based on the Research Excellence Framework 2021. It is rated fifth in the UK for Business Studies by the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide. The Business School is looking to find new approaches to business in a rapidly changing world. It is perfectly positioned to draw upon the interdisciplinary strengths across the King’s community, to partner with business and civil society, and to develop a mission critical strategy focussed on a sustainable economy.
To achieve our strategic ambitions the university is investing significantly in establishing the Centre for Sustainable Business. The Centre’s scope will encompass research excellence, education, and impact with an emphasis on building mechanisms for knowledge exchange and connectivity. Housed within the Business School, the Centre will have a catalytic role in enhancing interdisciplinary activity across the university. Equally, in accelerating the development of colleagues so that they may generate real impact for their work, alongside boosting career opportunities for students. The faculty seeks to recruit a Director (Research) to establish and lead the Centre for Sustainable Business, where multi-disciplinary research will span the fields of business and sustainability.
The Director (Research) will bring the skills needed to shape the direction of the Centre’s research and innovation, alongside the ability to articulate a vision for the Centre to research bodies, policymakers, philanthropic organisations, and the business world. The appointee will be an accomplished leader with international academic standing in the field of sustainability research, bringing a publication list that includes peer reviewed articles published in world-leading, relevant journals relevant to the Business School. The Director (Research) will bring expertise in leading interdisciplinary research and innovation programmes and in securing substantial funding. The role is a real opportunity for individuals with aspirations to operate at a strategic and institutional level within a ‘hub and spoke’ model.
The deadline for applications is Thursday 20th April 2023. The selection process will include a presentation and two stage panel interview.
King’s is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and through this appointment it is our aim to develop candidate pools that include applicants from all backgrounds and communities. We particularly encourage applications from women, people from minority ethnic communities, the LGBT+ community and from disabled people.
