Job Category: VIP AJob Description:The Departments of Environmental and Resource Engineering (DTU Sustain) and the National Food Institute (DTU Food) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) offer a full-time Tenure Track Researcher position in Sustainable and Healthy Food Systems. A researcher position in Denmark is equivalent to an Assistant Professor, with a stronger focus on project acquisition and a weaker focus on teaching activities although you must contribute to teaching courses. In the DTU tenure track, after a maximum period of six years, researchers are evaluated and may be transferred to a permanent position as a senior researcher if given a positive academic assessment at the end of the tenure track process.The position aims to develop new approaches, methods, databases and tools to assess and optimize the impacts of food production, processing and consumption on both the environment and nutritional health, combining nutritional and health sciences with life cycle assessment and absolute environmental sustainability assessment methods applied to food technologies and systemsThe position is anchored at the Section for Quantitative Sustainability Assessment (QSA) at DTU Sustain, however the activities will be carried out within both DTU Sustain and DTU Food departments. In QSA, you will become part of a dynamic and team-based research environment with around 50 international staff members, postdocs, and PhD students, dedicated to the development and application of methods to quantify environmental sustainability. You will also play a central role in the collaborations between DTU Sustain and DTU Food and develop cross-cutting research activities within the area of environmental sustainability and health assessment of food systems. Collaborations with researchers affiliated to the DTU Centre for Absolute Sustainability, which is co-hosted at QSA, is also foreseen.Responsibilities and qualifications
Sustainability is a central element in DTU’s Strategy, where a strategic aim is “to develop technologies for sustainable change”. The position targets research within the field of quantitative sustainability assessment to support achieving this aim in the specific area of food systems, which should be understood in a generic sense as specific food products, food processes and technologies, and food production/consumption systems at large.We seek a candidate with the potential for independent research, a willingness to collaborate, network, and interact with other researchers, and the ability to disseminate research in seminars, conferences, and teaching classrooms.We expect you to lead and undertake the following tasks:

You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in nutrition sciences, environmental engineering, food sciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, or similar fields.You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.The position is to be filled as soon as possible (or according to mutual agreement).
