vacanciesin.eu

Embark on an exciting career and help the UK’s largest Wildlife Trust Consultancy to protect
our natural environment and support nature’s recovery.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for an Ecological Project Manager to join our industry leading
Major Projects team.

Over the last 30 years, the company’s ecological practice has developed a strong reputation and
proven track record as a trusted, leader in its field. The Major Projects team was established
to provide specialist ecological support to high-value, infrastructure-led schemes across the
country.

As an Ecological Project Manager, you will be working with some of our largest clients on major
projects including road, rail, energy and renewable schemes. Leading a team and often working
on complex schemes with multiple protected species, you’ll act as the trusted link between
Middlemarch, the client and the fieldwork team, with direct reporting to the SMT on project
delivery and budgets.

In addition to overseeing the implementation of mitigation works, you’ll undertake a wide
variety of field surveys and provide high-quality expert advice and recommendations to clients
through written reports and verbal communication.

As a people-focused consultancy, you’ll receive all the support you need to develop as
individuals and grow your careers. We offer 24 days of annual leave (increasing with service up
to a maximum of 35 at senior management level), flexible and remote working, an annual
performance-related bonus, employee assistance program, Time Off in Lieu offering the
opportunity for extended periods of leave and professional development, and extensive training
and development support.

Middlemarch celebrates diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and is committed to providing
fair and equal access to opportunities for all candidates.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

A strong background in field-based ecology is essential, with a minimum of two years’ relevant
experience at a senior level. You will be confident in leading and developing project delivery
teams, managing projects from tender stage to completion and client liaison. The ideal
candidate will also be confident leading surveys and providing expert ecological advice.

Good interpersonal skills are essential as the role will work closely with clients and
colleagues. Report writing skills and experience of working on complex projects with multiple
protected species is also required.

You’ll need to be able to use Microsoft Office applications and experience with GIS or mapping
software would be advantageous.

A valid CSCS card is essential. Personal protected species licences and a current SSSTS
certificate would be an advantage.
