When you see the world as we do, you see the chance to help the world take better care
of its resources, and help it become a better place for everyone. It’s why we’re looking for
someone who sees the world in a similar way to take up an exciting Education, Communications
and Outreach (ECO) Manager, leading a team of an ECO Officer and a Social Value Officer based
at Veolia’s new Hammersmith & Fulham contract in central London. This is an excellent first-line management opportunity for someone who can demonstrate great project-based people and
budget management skills.

Because of our responsibility when it comes to leading change, resourcing takes every
single one of us, and this is how you can play your part. And if you have a passion for the
environment and sustainability, and a real desire to improve recycling in the borough, this
role will suit you perfectly.

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to overhaul the industry, or just do a good day’s
work. We know that everyone here at Veolia can help us work alongside our communities, look
after the environment in small and big ways, and contribute towards our inclusive
culture.

What will you be doing?

The Contract ECO Manager for Hammersmith & Fulham will manage and develop the
Education, Communications and Outreach function for the contract and ensure strategic project
plans are delivered to meet objectives. You will work closely with the Area ECO Manager and the
Officers to develop community engagement projects to change resident behaviours and improve
recycling rates and will be responsible for the budget, timeline and quality of their delivery.
You will also be the day to day point of contact for the client and site management team and
have responsibility for the business as usual outputs of the team.

The Contract ECO Manager will identify good news stories and feed them to the regional
digital and PR team, as well as working closely with this team to achieve regional and contract
objectives. You will keep abreast of industry developments and build strong relationships with
your client and colleagues at all levels across the contract.

You will drive the performance of the ECO and Social Value Officers, coaching and
mentoring them to improve their project planning, community engagement approach, and support
them in achieving their personal goals. If you love working with the community and leading on
projects, this is the role for you.

What are we looking for?

Essential:

  • Project development and management – contributing to and executing strategies to
    support company objectives
  • People and budget management – can be project-based rather than as a direct line
    manager
  • Experience delivering behaviour change and/or community engagement techniques and
    analysing results
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills including presentation
    skills
  • Experience of building strong stakeholder relationships and customer
    management
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, or significant
    experience

Desirable:

  • Industry knowledge
  • Understanding or experience of working with local authorities
  • Experience of visual and textual content production across multiple
    formats
  • Advanced understanding of data management and analysis
  • Understanding of PR, social media, social advertising and digital
    communications
  • A full clean UK driving licence
