Applications are invited for the following Post in the Technological University Dublin: Post: Electronic Hardware Engineer – SM:ART Project – Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment (Post aligned to a Post-Doc Researcher for pay purposes only) (Fixed term Specified purpose contract for 2 years) (Reference: 521/2024) Location: The post will be based at the TU Dublin Campuse i.e. Grangegorman (Parkhouse), Blanchardstown or Tallaght. Hours of Work: A 37 hour working week is in operation. Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed the salary scale aligned to point (01) of the Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale i.e. €47,412 gross per annum. Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Incremental credit may apply in line with University policy. Closing Date: 02nd January 2025 at 5.00 p.m. (Irish time). Late applications will not be accepted. It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place in week beginning 27th January 2025. The interview assessment will be 40 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 10 minutes duration. The topic of this presentation will be as follows: ‘Designing and Developing Embedded Sensor Hardware for Harsh Environmental Conditions: Key Challenges and Solutions.’ Application Details/Procedures: For further information and to make an online application for the above post please visit website visit http://www.tudublin.ie/vacancies www.tudublin.ie/vacancies Technological University Dublin is an equal opportunities employer Person Specification The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities required for the role as outlined below and must satisfy all of the essential criteria: Essential An Honours Degree from an approved degree awarding institution or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field or At least 4 years of professional experience in electronic hardware design, development, or testing, demonstrating technical proficiency and hands-on expertise in hardware engineering (Essential). A PhD in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field or At least 4-5 additional years of specialised professional experience in hardware research and development, system design, or leadership in complex engineering projects, on top of the primary experience requirement (Essential). Extensive experience of at least 3 years in designing and developing electronic hardware, particularly for sensor systems or IoT applications, with proficiency in PCB design and the development of low-power embedded systems, including expertise in wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, LoRa) (Essential). Demonstrated expertise through industry projects or publications of environmental sensor technologies, including methods for measuring chloride ion concentration and corrosion potential,
