The Agency aims to foster the contribution of the energy sector economic development and environmental sustainability.Job DescriptionThe IEA is recruiting an Energy Analyst(s) to join the Strategic Initiatives Office (SIO), which is an extension of the Office of the Executive Director. SIO leads and co-ordinates several key cross-cutting and strategic functions from national Energy Policy Reviews to the cross-Agency Clean Energy Transitions Programme, the IEA Sherpa function for key multilateral energy and climate fora (such as G7, G20, COP), and more. It is a friendly and fast-moving team that must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the Agency. It works with colleagues across the organisation, as well as a wide range of stakeholders in the international energy and climate communities.The successful candidate(s) will serve as the IEA Desk Officer for around eight countries, working alongside other desk officers and researchers. The role involves being a primary point of contact for the government and other stakeholders in those countries, helping to advance a range of IEA activities with them, preparing briefings and intelligence reports on those countries, and leading the preparation and delivery of all aspects of their Energy Policy Review (typically conducting/completing two or three such reviews each year). IEA Energy Policy Reviews are an essential tool for providing insight and advice to governments on how to best achieve their energy and climate goals. Each Review reflects a detailed, complex project spanning several months from inception to final delivery. The role requires strong energy and climate policy knowledge, excellent organisational and project management skills coupled with a proactive attitude, exceptional English drafting skills, and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of senior stakeholders, including government ministers.In addition, the nature of SIO’s work means that all team members must be ready and willing to be deployed on IEA priority projects. It therefore demands personal flexibility and professional adaptability, coupled with excellent time management and team spirit. Depending on level of experience, monthly salary starts from 7,738.74 EUR plus allowances based on eligibility, exempt of French income tax.
