• Your key role will be empowering and mentoring a team of 6 Data Platform Engineers, where you’ll create a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• You will assess the existing data infrastructure, including 300 SQL databases, petabytes of BigQuery data, Airflow DAGs, Pub/Sub topics, and 3rd party tools. Through this evaluation, you’ll identify opportunities for simplification, standardization, and improvement.
• You will define and implement the technical roadmap, focusing on transitioning the Data Platform towards an accurate self-service model. Your efforts will be critical to simplifying our working models.
• Working with other engineering teams, you’ll collaborate on sharing data standards across the company to ensure consistency and interoperability.
• Managing and prioritizing your team’s backlog will be crucial as you focus on projects that deliver the most significant impact towards achieving our “1-hour” data access goal.
• Collaborating with senior-level stakeholders will be essential as you communicate progress, gather feedback, and build trust and enthusiasm for our data platform transformation.
• Progress tracking will be in your hands as you implement metrics such as “Time to Data Availability” and collect qualitative feedback from data consumers.
• Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies will be part of your role as you evaluate their potential to enhance the Data Platform and advance the company’s data strategy.

What you will need

• You bring significant previous experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, and you can demonstrate how you’ve fostered innovation and aligned teams around shared goals.
• We seek your deep technical expertise in data warehousing concepts, ETL pipelines, streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub), data modeling principles, and your drive to experiment with new solutions.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS) and related services will support your ability to prototype and validate new concepts for our team.
• Your analytical mindset will help you evaluate and simplify complex technical systems while focusing on our team’s shared goals.
• You bring your track record of driving data standards and best practices across engineering teams, showing how you’ve united different groups around shared technical missions.
• Your communication skills will be essential as you build relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the organization.
• Fluency in English is crucial, as you’ll need to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
