Starkold Building Services are a Construction Logistics Company based in Durham in the North
East of England working Nationally throughout the UK.

We are currently looking to bring an Environmental Coordinator into the team, working alongside
the contracts and cost departments to manage all environmental and waste management elements of
the business.

Starkold are specialists in Construction Site Logistics, Waste Management, Environmental &
Sustainability Monitoring and Auditing, Plant Hire, Small Builders Packages, Hoardings, Fencing
and Plant Hire.

Starkold have been working for many years with some of the country’s leading Construction
Companies and Internationally renowned Blue Chip end clients. In more recent times Starkold
have been awarded several exciting projects and along with new workstreams and partnerships
that will takes us through 2023 and beyond.

Role Description

  • The position will be head office based, with site visits throughout the UK as required.
  • The role will include the following:

Waste Management

  • Tendering and procurement of suppliers
  • Supplier orders & site liaison
  • Processing and recording of transfer notes and uploading onto client systems (i.e.
    SmartWaste)
  • Processing invoices into monthly valuations
  • Procurement and booking of client requests for;

Internal Sustainability Reporting

  • Mange the companies ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, to include:
  • Monthly monitoring
  • Audits
  • Updates
  • Annual external audit
  • Carbon footprint calculation
  • Monitor waste, timber & fuel

External client sustainability reporting

  • Monitor and report to clients on waste and certain materials (timber & fuel)
  • Carryout environment audits on client sites and compile reports to include recommendations
  • SmartWaste – inputting data from our suppliers and other trade contractors
  • Generate reports

Person Specification

  • Preferably be experienced in a similar role
  • Confident communication skills both verbally and written
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience of an Environmental Management Software system, i.e. SmartWaste
  • Organised personnel – Starkold have up to 50 different, live projects around the UK for
    multiple clients at any one time, with each project constantly changing
  • Preferably some experience of carrying out site audits or inspections
  • A great awareness of what our clients, and supply chain require is preferred
  • IEMA membership, preferred but not essential
  • CSCS card, preferred but not essential
  • Full, clean driving license

  • To be good at working with people at all levels and willing to work in a team
  • To be willing to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks

  • Well organised; flexible, committed, enthusiastic and innovative
  • To have the desire to go the extra mile for the team when required
