MacArthur Green is an independent environmental consultancy, seeking an Environmental Project
Manager for ornithology projects. We specialise in providing ornithology and ecology
consultancy services to large-scale renewable projects such as onshore and offshore wind farms,
as well as natural capital projects or grid networks.

At MacArthur Green, our mission is to make a positive impact on the environment through our
three core business objectives: supporting projects with important environmental benefits,
supporting ecological research projects, and operating as a biodiversity positive, carbon
conscious business. As an Environmental Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in
achieving these objectives, working in a friendly and supportive team.

We value diversity and inclusivity, and we want to grow our team with a range of perspectives
and strengths. We are small enough to work collaboratively and hear everyone’s ideas, and we’re
big enough to work on meaningful projects, with some of the best clients in the environmental
sector.

We are keen to consider candidates for both full-time and part-time working. We are also well
set up to support hybrid working, reduced hours or compressed hours working.

Job Description

The overall purpose of your role will be to collaborate with our team to successfully deliver
projects that have important environmental benefits. This will include:

  • Project management, coordination and delivery of ornithological projects.
  • Client, landowner and stakeholder liaison.
  • Preparing and supporting tender submissions.
  • Managing the delivery of various types of ornithological surveys.
  • Environmental data entry and analysis.
  • Preparation of various types of environmental report.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified in an appropriate environmental discipline (e.g. Sustainability, Environmental
    Science, Planning, Geography, Ecology, Zoology).
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Experience of project management and managing a diverse workload.
  • The ability to produce and review high quality reports.
  • Strong IT skill including Word and Excel.
  • A proactive can-do attitude.

Location

River Kelvin where our team enjoy seeing kingfisher and salmon, and (very occasionally) otters.
We have fresh fruit delivered every week, and a constant supply of seriously good, fairtrade,
organic coffee and tea!

You will be based in our Glasgow office, with flexibility to work from home. We understand that
everyone is different and that there is no one-fits-all working week. Talk to us about what you
need, and we can work with you to try and get it right for the team and the clients.

We are registered as a Disability Confident employer. Please see our website recruitment page
or get in touch to find out how we can help you feel confident that we are the right place of
work for you. We offer a guaranteed interview to disabled applicants who meet the minimum
criteria for this role and will endeavour to make any reasonable adjustments for the successful
candidate.

Benefits

Salary – competitive (dependent upon experience). Benefits include pension contribution (from 5% to 10% dependent on salary);
bonus scheme; life insurance; income protection and critical illness. We offer additional
unpaid holiday as an option (subject to client commitments) and enhanced maternity, paternity
and adoption leave pay.

Aside from the above benefits, there are the advantages of working somewhere small and
friendly, where your opinion is sought and heard! We devote time and resource to supporting and
developing our team. We offer solid training and career development opportunities, monthly walk
and talk catch ups with your line manager, and annual appraisals; we will work with you to
develop your specialism and valuable sector knowledge.
