Environmentalist in Residence

Pipers Corner is a Girls’ School Association Independent School for girls aged 4-18. Set in 96
acres of beautiful Chiltern countryside, the school is four miles north of High Wycombe and two miles
from Great Missenden. In its last educational quality ISI inspection the school was graded as
“excellent” in all categories.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual with a passionate concern for the
environment and a desire to educate young people to join our busy and creative School. 

The successful candidate will be able to inspire the Pipers’ community about local, national
and worldwide environmental issues.

Specific responsibilities

• Act as an environmental ambassador for Pipers Corner School in sharing expertise and/or facilities, and in organising events with other local schools and organisations
• Run the School’s ‘HOPE’ Eco group
• Audit the School’s environmental footprint and credentials
• Formulate a plan to make the School more environmentally aware and sustainable
• Lead on measurable projects on sustainability in the School
• Take assemblies and run informal and formal sessions at break times with students
• Be a class resource for teachers on request
• Devise schemes of work for the annual Tutor Programmes
• Integrate and support the work of Forest School and Gardening Club and other outdoor education projects
• Act as an environmental/sustainability link between all departments
• Liaise with Grounds and Maintenance Departments to make the School site more sustainable, also more environmentally and wildlife friendly
• Continue to build on the School’s annual environmental and sustainable activities
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact
