Job title:

ERC-funded postdoctoral positions in neurobiology

Company:

Job description

Offer Description2 ERC-funded postdoctoral positions are available at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris to investigate the human-specific regulations of synapses and their consequences on neurological disorders. The Charrier lab investigates the development and plasticity of synapses in cortical circuits, with a particular emphasis on their human-specific regulations (Assendorp et al., 2024; Christopoulou et al, 2024; Gemin et al. 2021, Fossati et al. 2019; Fossati et al., 2016). We are interested in understanding how human-specific genes and other human-specific modifiers of synapses impact the wiring of cortical circuits, our interactions with the environment through activity-dependent mechanisms, and the pathophysiology of neurodevelopmental disorders. We are looking for highly motivated, independent and creative post-doctoral scientists to investigate the role of human-specific genes and synaptic organizers differentially regulated in humans in normal and pathological conditions. The Biology Institute of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (IBENS, Inserm, CNRS, PSL Research University) provides an exceptional scientific environment and a vibrant international community for postdocs in the heart of Paris.Requirements: PhD in Neuroscience or cellular and molecular biology. Experience in slice electrophysiology, synapse biology, neurodevelopment, microscopy, RNA biology or cortical organoids.Applicants should have been awarded their PhD preferably within the last 3 years and should have a strong record of publications.Funding is available for two years with possibility of extension up to 5 years and with salary according to experience.Applications will be considered until September 15, 2025. Applicants should send an email to Cécile Charrier ( ) including: (1) A brief paragraph of past achievements and motivation; (2) CV; and (3) contact information of two scientists from whom references could be requested. For more information, please contact Cécile Charrier ( ) and check our website:Where to apply E-mailcecile.charrier@ens.psl.euRequirementsResearch Field Neurosciences » Neurobiology Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/QualificationsPhD in Neuroscience or cellular and molecular biology.
